What is the difference between Micah Network and Micah Challenge?

Micah Network was established in 1999 and is a global network of Christian organisation and individuals committed to integral mission. In 2005 Micah Network partnered with the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) to set up a global campaign whose aim is to raise awareness of poverty and of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and help Christians hold their governments to account on meeting the 2015 MDGs objectives. The campaign is called the Micah Challenge.

Micah Network and WEA work together on the Micah Challenge campaign Board and delegate the day-to-day campaign management to the Micah Challenge campaign director, Joel Edwards and his team.

Can you become a member of Micah Challenge as well as Micah Network?

Only Micah Network has a formal membership process. As a campaign Micah Challenge invites organisations and individuals to stand together through the formation of national coalitions, which work in solidarity as they campaign to hold governments to account for their pledge to halve poverty by 2015.

Does Micah Network provide funding for projects?

No. 

Micah Network is a network, it is not a funding organisation. If you are seeking funding for a project please address this request to organisations, which have this aim. Micah Network is not a platform to advertise your project financial needs, rather the added value of being a part of a global network is:

  • Equipping one another to be the best we can be in our service
  • Cooperating with one another and partnering so as to forward the mission of God
  • Sharing our learning and experiences so as to enrich each others work and effectiveness
  • Encouraging and supporting one another, which includes standing in the gap through prayer and intercession on behalf of one another both for each other and for those we serve
  • Creating the resources that strengthen our effectiveness and ensuring easy access to them
  • Working through our thinking and approaches on cross-cutting issues and on important topics that affect the communities we serve
  • Bringing together the theological perspectives that underpin our actions and aspirations
  • Uniting together to forward advocacy issues
  • Solidarity – standing together and sharing the responsibility of living out our faith in such a way as to demonstrate Kingdom values
  • Networking and communication

Why have you chosen the name Micah Network?

Micah was a prophet and there is a book in the Old Testament in the Bible that outlines his historic contribution. A verse from this book: Micah 6:8 asks: “What is good and what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

This verse inspired the founders of Micah Network and remains foundational in informing our mission and purpose. It calls us to action. See integral mission.
